UD & Gambling – LewRockwell

Hi Lew,

With all due respect to Crisis Magazine and their concerns over a casino next door, that gambling ship sailed long ago. Texas has the obligatory “education” lottery which, as the case with much of Texas, is bigger than most.

This GovCo run gambling operation has several numbers games per week in addition to the national PowerBall and MegaMillions. If Texas is anything like North Carolina (where I reside) the advertising is borderline criminal in that it leads one to believe that playing scratch-off games is a path to riches instead of a road to perdition. It’s sickening.

And, why isn’t this an opportunity for the UofD to do mission work? Perhaps they can be a source of refuge for those falling into this gambling trap. After all, Jesus came to reach the sinful…well, here they are.

If we’re going to use GovCo to stop sin, why do we need churches?
